8-8-08 weddings galore
The unique day for 3 eights is not only the opening of the Beijing Olympics, its also attracted the attention of more than a thousand couples who lined up on the weekend to register weddings on August 8, 2008. The number 8 in Chinese is part of a Chinese expression that means "to get wealthy". It is estimated that more than 9000 couples will get married on that date.

Blow-up dolls used to beat traffic rules
New Zealand drivers have resorted to using blow-up dolls, mannequins and even dogs dressed as kids to drive in lanes where 3 or more passengers are required. Drivers caught cheating the system were fined NZ$150. The old antic used was paying students to hitch a ride so they can use the lanes.

Stealing lessons to help stop thievery
A Dutch biking group is planning to expand its classes on stealing bikes, after seeing that the people taking the lessons are becoming more security-conscious. Bikes are a popular mode of transportation in Netherlands, with 18 million bikes across the country. Last year 700,000 bikes were stolen there.
