Living with trash

This man is nuts, in a good way. Ari Derfel has been storing his garbage in his house for a year, to see how much trash a person makes. He made about 96 cubic feet this year. All of the garbage he collected are stored in bins on his kitchen and living room. His food wastes were being composted, while he washes the non-biodegradable refuse. Surprisingly his apartment doesn't smell bad at all. Checkout his blog here.

Kids steal Christmas presents

These kids certainly won't get presents from Santa. A 9-yr-old girl and a 5-yr-old boy broke into a house a block away using a gift card to steal Christmas presents worth around $200. The couple who owned the house came back from Christmas shopping and found out about the break-in along with the presents missing. A relative of the 2 children who stole the presents talked with the couple, causing them to discover that the stolen presents matched several extra "new" presents the children had. The relative contacted the children's mother and the truth came out.

Cartoon characters as court witnesses

A court in Italy has ordered Tweety, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck to testify for a counterfeiting case. The trial is for criminal charges against a Chinese man accused of selling counterfeited Warner Bros and Disney products. Lawyers think that its just a clerical error by the court, who summoned the characters instead of the companies and their respective representatives. Disneyland officials found the summons amusing. Fiorenza Sorotto, vice president of Disney Company Italia, joked that "Unfortunately they cannot show up, as they are residents of Disneyland".

Mouse not afraid of Cats

The common knowlege of all mouse fear cats is not necessarilt true, now that a mouse has been genetically engineered by scientiest to be unafraid of cats. By altering the mouse's sense of smell, the "fearless" mouse does not try to flee when it smells cats and other feral predators. Studies made by scientists showed that mammals who run away from predators were inborn with the behavior in their brain, and not from experience. By disabling the functions in the brain for the sense of smell, they were able to successfully remove the fear from the mouse.

Santa told to wear seatbelt

There's even traffic safety standards for Santa. A santa from a rotary club that visits the West Midlands was ordered to wear a seatbelt while riding his sleigh, or face a higher insurance fee. The sleigh travels at 5 mph while being pulled by a Land Rover. The organizers of the charity found the move "utterly ridiculous" so to speak. The tradition has been going around for 20 years.

He was able to warm himself using hot water soaking his feet. The cleaner discovered him when she came to get her cleaning equipment. The club is rarely used in the winter.

Westaff defended that the company fired him over his attitude, not for his saying of "Ho Ho Ho".

Giant-sized Bug

A fossilized claw have been discovered by British scientists and it is said to be part of a very large sea scorpion, possibly about 8 feet long! The fossil was said to be from a Jaekelopterus Rhenaniae, a scorpion from about 400 million years ago.

Several Swedish women are making makes by going on public swimming pools topless in protest. From a group known as Bara Brost(Bare Breasts), these women are protesting the gender-bias or sexual discrimination on men's and women's swimwear. They're trying to make a point of if men can go bare-chested, what can't women also do it. The owner of the swimming facility in Uppsala defended the action by saying that women could be subjected to sexual harassment if they are allowed to go topless.

The ringtone has reportedly already generated more than $2 million for the companies who released it. The exchange came from Chavez calling former Spanish PM Jose Maria Aznar a fascist.

Cheerleader Showy Message

Six Californian cheerleaders from Ripon High School were suspended for two days after showing a message on their bottoms during a cheer. Despite the disapproval of their coach, they still continued with their plan of the last game of the football season. On reaching the end of their routine, the cheerleaders bent overs and lifted up their skirts while showing the spelled words "Indians No. 1" across their bloomers. Some people are really over their heads, as this seems to be done only in school spirit, and its not like any panties were shown- just bloomers.

Toilet Lid Pee Solution

A 9-year-old boy Jake Wulf came up with a plan to make lifting the toilet lid foot-operated, so that there would be no need to touch the lid. He named the invention Privy Pop. He got the idea because his mom was always getting angry at him for forgetting to put the toilet seat down after peeing. Too bad they're not planning to mass-produce it- it could make them alot of money, and it seems pretty useful.

Recycled urine for spacemen

Too bad for astronauts, seems like they will be privy to drinking recycled water from their own urine when they're in space. Transportation costs ofcarrying bringing drinking water through space will greatly be reduced if the urine-recycling system is used to extract drinking water. NASA is still finalizing the system to be used for purifying the urine, as there are three systems they are choosing from, or possibly incorporating together, to make the best possible system to recover clean water. So far they're able to recover 92 percent of the waste water to be made drinkable! Hopefully I'll not be around when the time comes for everyone in the world will be needing to drink this kind of water.

Chinese Panda takes big bite off boy's leg

15-year-old Li Xitao found his lesson pretty painful when male panda Gu Gu took a huge chunk of flesh from the boy's leg at the Beijing Zoo. The bite was so deep that the boy's bones were even showing! Seems curiosity took the better(or worse) of the boy when he jumped over the 4-ft 7-inch barricade around the panda grounds. Gu gu was in the news before for being bitten by a drunk man, which was in retaliation for Gu gu biting him first.

Bomb Explosion in Glorietta

Sad news today. There was an explosion in Glorietta 2 Mall in Makati, killing sofar 8 people and injuring more than a hundred. Although a bomb still isn't confirmed, I don't think LPG tanks exploding would've cause the whole floor to collapse, with the escalators and all. The source of the explosion seems to be the storage room of the Chinese restaurant Luk Yuen noodle house. Let's pray for those who departed and hope that those responsible are caught. Guess we shouldn't frequent malls right away.

Paypal Philippines can send and receive money!

Good news to everyone in the Philippines! Paypal is now fully functional. You can now send or receive money. Paypal was made available earlier this year in the Philippines, but Philippine accounts were limited in that they can only send payments, but not receive payments. Now that we can also receive payments, Paypal can now make sending and receiving money easier for merchants like ebay sellers, or for people that are into get-paid-to internet programs and paid surveys. Ony way to receive payments through your paypal is to attach it to a bank account. Union Bank is one of the banks here in the Philippines that easily accepts paypal. You just have to apply for a Union Bank Visa account and you can transfer your paypal money to your Union Bank account. Check out their website for more info.
